Plummer was nominated for his role as J. Paul Getty in "All the Money in the World." The role had previously been played by Kevin Spacey, but when sexual misconduct allegations against Spacey surfaced in the fall, director Ridley Scott re-shot his scenes with Plummer. Plummer, 88, was nominated for a Golden Globe for the role, but lost to Sam Rockwell.

Paul, a 2003 Staples grad, was nominated along with his songwriting partner Benj Pasek for their song "This Is Me" from "The Greatest Showman." Pasek and Paul previously won Best Original Song last year for "City of Stars" from the film "La La Land."
